Stop exim in the server 2. remove the files in /var/spool/exim/db/ 3. start exim to regenerate those files freshly. Check logs again. You will see that the error disappeared.

In some cases spamd wont start along with exim im in the server. This has been solved by adding the line require “/etc/exim/perl/exim_check_surbl.perl”; at the end of exim’s perl startup script (/etc/exim.pl). surblspamcheck plugin was defined in exim_check_surbl.perl and the line require “/etc/exim/perl/exim_check_surbl.perl”; was missing from the startup script after the cPanel upgrade.
